Dear Colleagues,

Training has always been the main scope of the scientific cardiology community, while for the Union of European Medical Specialists homogenization of training around Europe is of utmost importance.

The Core Curriculum and ETRs (Educational Training Requirements) in Cardiology, create new challenges as they introduce training based upon entrustable professional activities (EPAs) creating thus a more accountable environment in education assessment.

One of the major gaps in worldwide training, that has been identified over the years, is the lack of specific training and certification of the trainers. Trying to fill this gap, the Hellenic Society of Cardiology and the Cardiological Society of Northern Greece are starting a unique, for Greek and European standards, pilot "train the trainers" course, hoping that it will be embraced by the responsible authorities and will culminate to a Professional Medical Education activity certifying trainers for Cardiology.

This "Faculty Development programme for Educational Supervisors and Clinical Supervisors course", is offered by the Education Department of the Royal College of PhysiciansLondon in co-operation with the Union of European Medical Specialists Section of Cardiology.

The overarching aims of this educational programme are to:

  • Develop a structured approach to educational supervision
  • Develop supervisors confidence in the use of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA’s) and train according to the European Core Curriculum
  • Equip supervisors with the skills to assess trainee performance in the clinical setting using a range of workplace‐based assessments
  • Establish systems to ensure a robust process of trainee progression

Start planning to make the most of this experience and join us in the picturesque village of Metsovo,
in the mountains of Pindus in northern Greece.

Looking forward to welcoming you all.
